Sometimes I chuckle to myself when I speak to people who question whether MLM really works and whether it is a legitimate business model.

Simple, it works and it is BIG BUSINESS!

Richard Branson has Virgin Vie At Home in his portfolio of Virgin Companies. This is a cosmetics party plan network marketing company.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump publcily endorsed the ACN video phone on the US “Apprentice” TV programme and has recently started a nutrional MLM company in the US called the Trump Network.

Donald along with Robert Kiyosaki (author of the world famous Rich Dad Poor Dad) also co-authored an excellent book called “Why We Want You To Be Rich” with chapter 27 titled “Why Do You Recommend Network Marketing?”

In the book both Donald and Robert give they own independent opinions on network marketing and also some excellent advice on how to succeed.

Warren Buffet

Warren Buffet, the worlds top investor owns more than 50 businesses, 3 of which are Network Marketing Companies.

The famous billionaire stock market guru, known as the “seer of Omaha” had Wall Street in a spin when he invested in his first MLM company, The Pampered Chef in 2002. He was quoted as saying “The Best Investment I ever made…” when it came to his MLM investment.

Bill Bartmann, (who I am pictured with below right) was once the 25th richest man in America, and he recently joined a network marketing company called iLearningGlobal.tv as a marketer.

He was invited to do so by his friend, success legend Brian Tracy.

The Power Of Network Marketing

What these icons of the business world realise is that there is nothing more powerful than a personal recommendation from someone you know and trust.

Before we had the internet, TV, Radio and newspapers how do you think people got to know about products and services? Simple, referral and word of mouth.

Lets face it we do all the time, when we see a great film, eat at a great restaurant, come across a fab book or are bowled over by a new gadget we rave about it to our friends and family. I reckon I have sold more iPhones on behalf of Apple than I can care to imagine because I love it and I tell everyone that. When I got my first iphone (I’ve had 3) I did a demo with pretty much everyone I met and told them they needed to have one.

If you think of network marketing in the same way, that what you are sharing with others is something you feel passionate about and you can rave about. For some they rave about their MLM companies products and other rave about their business opportunity as a means to help people gain their financial freedom.

Occasionally prospects ask me or people in my team the question, “is this a pyramid scheme?” Its a fair question because there are so many schemes and scams out there and the recent high profile global exposure of Bernard Madoff’s ponzi scheme added to the scepticism.

What is a Pyramid Scheme?

Understanding what a Pyramid Scheme is, will help you identify one and differenciate it from a legitimate and legal MLM business.

A Pyramid Scheme, also referred as a money game is an illegal, non-sustainable business model. It involves the exchange of money primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme where there is no product or service being delivered.

In the past the unethical behaviour of some MLM companies has added to the misunderstanding and scepticism towards network marketing. This is why it is important that you do your due diligence before becoming involved in a MLM or network marketing business opportunity.

These are the criteria your MLM company must meet in my opinion:

1. There is a tangible product or service which will add real value to customers and distributors.
   
2. The company owners and management team have a good track record of business success.
3. The company is well funded.
4. 3 fundamentals for a successful MLM company are being fulfilled:
   i)   Payments systems are in place to collect money from customers
   ii)  Systems for product delivery and distribution are in place
   iii) System for paying commissions to distributors are in place

In this picture you see the flow of an effective MLM online attraction marketing model.

One of the key things to note in the picture above is that you send your traffic to a Personal Capture Page and NOT your company marketing replicated website. This is one of the biggest mistakes I see in the industry which envitably leads to huge failure for the majority of MLM reps.

The objectives of your personal capture page is to:

1. Brand you
2. Help you connect and build a relationship with your vistor
3. Offer value to your visitor

Always put yourself in the position of your prospect who will constantly be asking “what’s in it for me”. If you can’t help that prospect solve a problem or give them what they are looking for then you will get zero results.

Far too often I see websites which scream out “GIVE ME YOUR MONEY“  where there is no value for the visitor.

In the network marketing industry, in order to succeed you have to help others get what they want. If you think only about your own agenda and how much money you are going to make from sponsoring others or making product sales then I am afraid you will FAIL!

Hello my name is Shush Arya, as an ongoing student of marketing, one of the things I have realised is that you can learn a lot faster if you teach and share with others what you learn along the way.

The internet is dynamic and you have to be constantly upgrading your marketing skills to stay ahead of the game. The best advice I can give you is model success and learn from the experts. ie people who are the best in the field which you wish to succeed in.

A word of caution here is there are many people online posing as experts who have in fact achieved little or no success, so choose your mentors wisely.

I am very fortunate to have changed my life with the success I have achieved through internet maketing and network marketing (MLM).

However like most, I have suffered many frustrations and made huge mistakes along the way.

What I say to my students is:

1. Know WHY you are doing what you are doing! Visualise your dreams and dream life. If in your mind you picture yourself in those dreams then one day you will achieve them.

2. Write down your goals because they are the targets you work towards every day. Be driven to work hard consistently, constantly visualising your dreams.

3. Identify your most important goal and everyday think about it and tell yourself you are going to achieve it. Create that certainty and belief in your mind.

4. Be patient, so many people expect instant results but this is not realistic. Look at your failures as lessons you learn from.

5. Never give up on your dreams. NEVER!!!
